4-Front Corrosion Protection System, a double-sealed multi-layer patented paint process, fights off corrosion from harsh marine environments. The base is a Honda aluminum alloy, followed by a double sealed treatment, an epoxy primer undercoat, and an acrylic resin metallic coating, finished with a clear overcoat of acrylic. (BF2 - BF225)

4 to 4 Induction, the fuel-efficient 4-cylinder, 4-carburetor design, utilizes one carburetor per cylinder and is more compact and responsive than one large throttle body and long intake runner. The ultimate benefit is smoother and quieter operation on the water with instant throttle response and performance. (BF75, BF90)

The roller rocker arm generates less friction and wear, resulting in longer engine life. This design, unlike traditional DOHC designs, is easy to adjust and contains no complex bucket shims. (BF135, BF150)

Engine Alert System monitors vital engine functions and alerts the operator, with a light, buzzer or rpm reduction, of any problems. (BF8 - BF225)

Gas Assist Tilt makes it easy to tilt the engine for running in shallow water, or raise it completely out of the water for protection. (BF25, BF30, BF40, BF50)

Integral Fuel Tank facilitates easy removal and portability as one unit; the vent may be closed for transport or extended storage periods, and the engine runs up to 55 minutes at full throttle on a single tank of fuel. (BF2)

Large Displacement V-6. 60 V6 3.5L (212 cubic inches) A powerful, compact 24-valve SOHC design that lacks the bulk and weight of long intake runners and multi-camshafts. The narrow V6 design offers top performance and durability, based on Honda automotive engineering excellence. (BF200, BF225)

Largest Capacity Alternator: at 12 amps, the alternator on the electric start model engines keeps a boat's battery charged better than the alternator on any comparable engine on the market. (BF8 - BF20)

Largest Displacement 15/20 horsepower (hp): with a displacement of 21.4 cubic inches, the BF15/BF20 are the power kings of their class. (BF15, BF20)

Lean Burn Feedback Control utilizes a Linear Air-Fuel Sensor, along with the Engine Command System, to automatically adjust the air-fuel mix according to speed and load while maximizing power throughout the acceleration range and providing as much as 20 percent greater fuel economy in the cruise mode from 2000 to 4500 rpm. (BF135, BF150, BF200, BF225)

Lightest 4-Stroke 15/20 horsepower (hp) engine: At 101 pounds, the BF15/BF20 engine models combine the smooth-running efficiency of a 4-stroke design with the lightest weight of any engine in its class. (BF15, BF20)

Lightest 4-Stroke 50 horsepower (hp) engine is the lightest 50 hp 4-stroke available on the market. Perfect for pontoon, aluminum fishing boats, and the growing bay boat market. (BF50)

Linear Air Fuel Sensor works with the engine command system, delivering maximum fuel economy whether trolling or cruising. (BF135, BF150)
