Acura to Start Third at Sebring with Delétraz, WTRAndretti

  • Wayne Taylor Racing with Andretti Global's Louis Delétraz qualifies P3 in the #40 Acura ARX-06
  • Sister #10 ARX-06 sets fastest time, faces procedural penalty in qualifying
  • Production based Acura NSX GT3 Evo22 starting P13 in GTD

Acura showed speed in qualifying for the 2024 Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring with the #40 WTRAndretti Acura ARX-06 starting third on the grid in the hands of Louis Delétraz. Delétraz will be sharing driver duties aboard the #40 with Andretti Global Honda IndyCar driver Colton Herta and former Sebring winner Jordan Taylor.

Deletraz's WTRAndretti team car, the #10 ARX-06 in the hands of Ricky Taylor, set a time that would have been good enough for pole around the bumpy 3.74-mile circuit, but a pitlane procedural penalty forces them to start the race from the rear of the GTP field. Taylor and teammates Filipe Albuquerque and Brendon Hartley will be looking to move their way through the field in tomorrow's 12-hour classic.

In the production-based GTD category, Sheena Monk will qualified 14th aboard her Gradient Racing Acura NSX GT3 Evo22, the second-quickest of the bronze-rated drivers in the 22-car GTD field. The all-female lineup of Monk, Katherine Legge and Tatiana Calderón will roll off P13 following a penalty to one of the cars ahead.

Quotes
Louis Deletraz (#40 Wayne Taylor Racing with Andretti Acura ARX-06) Qualified third: "We're happy with the result, especially after a tough day yesterday where we ended up putting a lot of new components on the car. Everyone did a great job getting it together and give me a great car for qualifying. We were treating [qualifying] as a test session as well as a performance session and in the end, we still ended up P3 and in a good position for tomorrow's race."

Sheena Monk (#66 Gradient Racing Acura NSX GT3 Evo22) Will start 13th in GTD, second-fastest bronze-rated GTD driver: "That was probably one of the best qualifying performances of my career. Honestly, I think the key was that I just went out there relaxed and focused. That was my quickest lap ever at Sebring. I'm still a smidge nervous [during qualifying] but I'm trying to get better at that aspect of it. I felt more in control today. I'm using the [adjustment] tools in the car a lot more effectively and I'm starting to understand what I like, and what I want out of the car."
