Acura Introduces 1994 Legend Coupe and Sedan, New Top-of-the-line Sedan GS is Featured

The Acura Automobile Division today announces the introduction of the 1994 Legend Coupe and Sedan. Highlighting the announcement is the addition of a new top-of-the-line Sedan as for 1994.

"The new performance-oriented, top-of-the-line Sedan as makes a first-class addition to the 1994 Legend series of automobiles," states Rich Thomas, executive vice president of Acura. "The Legend Sedan as keeps the same high-level of luxury one would expect in a top-notch luxury sedan and adds numerous performance features that are shared with the Legend Coupe," he says.

The new Sedan GS includes a 230-horsepower Type II engine with either a 6-speed manual or optional 4-speed automatic transmission, Traction Control System (TCS), 16-inch wheels and tires, upgraded sport suspension package and dual-piston front brake calipers.

The 1994 Acura Legend Sedan is available in three luxury models: the fully equipped L, the more elaborately equipped LS, and the top-of-the-line GS. The 1994 Acura Legend Coupe features two models: the L and the LS.

The Legend is powered by an aluminum-alloy, 3.2-liter, 24-valve, SOHC V-6 engine. An advanced, three-stage Variable Induction System increases torque throughout the engine's operating range, and Programmed Fuel Injection (PGM-FI) helps to ensure efficient operation under all driving conditions.

The engine/transmission package of the Legend is longitudinally mounted to achieve the ideal 60/40 weight balance for a front-wheel-drive performance luxury car. A racing-inspired, double-wishbone suspension, front and rear, delivers precise, responsive handling combined with excellent ride quality.

A precise 5-speed manual transmission is standard on the Legend Sedan L, while an electronically controlled 4-speed automatic is available as an option and standard on the Sedan LS. A 6-speed manual transmission is standard on the new Legend Sedan GS and the Legend Coupe Land LS, with a 4-speed automatic as an option.

For ease of control at lower speeds and precise road feel at all speeds, a sophisticated, electronically controlled, speed-sensitive, variable power-assisted, rack-and-pinion steering system is incorporated in all models.

The elegantly styled Acura Legend Sedan and Coupe were designed for aerodynamic efficiency, incorporating clean lines to penetrate the wind with a minimum of turbulence and details such as nearly flush glass and minimal gaps between body sections to reduce wind noise and increase fuel efficiency.

For 1994 both the Legend Sedan and Legend Coupe have been subtly restyled with redesigned grilles, front bumpers and front air intakes. The new Legend Sedan GS and Legend Coupe Land LS have body-colored front grilles. Also in 1994, both Legend Coupe models feature a new high-mount brakelight integrated into the rear trunk lid, while the LS contains a new body-colored chin spoiler, side sill and rear bumper skirt.

The configuration of the unit-body chassis incorporates specific crumple zones, to help lessen the impact on the occupants in the event of a collision. All Legend models feature a Supplemental Restraint System (SRS), which includes driver's and front passenger's air bags and automatic seat belt tensioners as standard equipment.

Four-wheel disc brakes provide impressive stopping power, and a standard Acura designed Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS) helps the driver retain steering control during hard braking. The Legend Coupe LS and new Legend Sedan GS feature a Traction Control System (TCS), which modulates wheel slip and helps the vehicle maintain better traction and control on the road.

The luxurious, driver-oriented interior is not only rich in feel and appearance, but is also designed to the most exacting ergonomic standards. Slim roof pillars offer an open, spacious greenhouse for excellent all-around visibility, and each instrument and control is designed and positioned for easy access and operation.

All models in the new Legend Series feature additional sound insulation for quieter operation.

New in all 1994 Legend models is a power tilt and telescopic steering system with memory function that operates in conjunction with the 8-way power driver's seat. The Legend Sedan LS and GS and the Legend Coupe LS also include a 4-way power passenger seat and heated front seats.

Full moquette upholstery is standard on the Sedan L model, while soft-finished leather seating surfaces, door-panel inserts and trim are optional. Leather-trimmed interior is standard in all other Sedan and Coupe models, while burled walnut accents the center console and armrests of the Sedan LS and GS and the Coupe LS models.

Interior comfort is assured in all weather conditions by a high-capacity air conditioning and heating system standard on all Legend models, with an Automatic Climate Control System standard on Legend Sedan LS and GS and Legend Coupe LS models. A power-operated moonroof is standard on all 1994 Legend models.

The standard Legend audio system features a fully electronic Acura/Bose® AM/FM stereo/cassette 8-speaker Music System with an FM diversity antenna. LS and GS models feature a state-of-the-art Acura/Bose® Premium Music System with eight speakers. A multi-disc CD changer and hands-free cellular telephone are also available as dealer-installed options. All Legend sound systems have an anti-theft feature as standard equipment.

Prices for the 1994 Legend Sedan range from $33,800 to $40,700 for the top-of-the-line GS model.
