The Acura Automobile Division today announced the introduction of the 1995 Acura Integra Sports Coupe and Sports Sedan automobiles. Highlighting the 1995 Series of Integra automobiles is the debut of the Acura Integra Special Edition Sports Coupe and Sports Sedan.
The Acura Integra, which was completely redesigned in 1994 and is now in its third generation, is the number-one-selling automobile in its category. The Integra continues to deliver sporty style, performance, comfort, advanced technology and excellent customer value as the Acura entry-level model.
The 1995 Acura Integra Sports Coupes and Sports Sedans are available in RS, LS, Special Edition and GS-R models. The 1995 GS-R is now available with a leather-trimmed interior, and the LS Sports Sedan now features a power moonroof as standard equipment.
The new 1995 Special Edition model features a leather-trimmed interior, special appearance group and handling package, which includes 15-inch alloy wheels, all season, high-performance Michelin XGT- V4 tires, special front stabilizer bar, body-colored protective side mouldings, a rear spoiler on the Sports Coupe and a wood-patterned center console on the Sports Sedan. Both models are also marked by a Special Edition emblem.
Standard on all Integra models are 4-wheel disc brakes, ventilated at the front and solid at the rear. This power-assisted brake system uses high-rigidity brake calipers that resist flexing for better performance under severe braking conditions.
Also standard on the LS, Special Edition and GS-R models is a standard Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS). This system is refined to minimize pedal kickback and maximize pedal feel. Under braking, the Integra ABS system modulates brake line pressure at the rate of ten times per second, which reduces the possibility of wheel lockup and helps the driver to retain steering control even during maximum braking.
To achieve improved crashworthiness, quiet operation and a long service life, the third-generation Integra unit body structure was designed using the Cray II supercomputer to simulate real-world body stresses and road shocks. As a result, this generation of Integra is 40% stiffer in bending and 20% stiffer in torsional rigidity than the models that precede them, the Sports Sedan is 50% stiffer in bending and 5% stiffer in torsional rigidity.
The Integra uses front and rear crumple zones designed to help absorb and dissipate crash energy before it reaches the passenger compartment. The doors are equipped with side-intrusion beams to reduce the possibility of injury in the event of a side impact. In addition, the Integra uses special side-impact pads in the door to further absorb impact energy. These features, in combination with the seat belts and air bag Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) standard for both driver and front passenger in all Integra models, provide a comprehensive safety package.
The Integra LS, Special Edition and GS-R models include a high-capacity air conditioning system and a power moonroof as standard equipment.
All 1995 Integra models are equipped with a complete list of comfort and convenience items, such as a standard tilt-adjustable steering column, power windows and door mirrors, a power antenna, an AM/FM stereo/cassette music system, remote trunk/fuel-filler-door releases and more.
