The Acura Automobile Division today announced the addition of the Acura Integra Special Edition Sports Coupe and Sports Sedan to its very popular line of Integra automobiles.
New for 1995, the Integra Special Edition features a leather-trimmed interior, special appearance group and a performance handling package priced significantly less than if purchased separately.
"The new Special Edition models include the most popular feature upgrades in a special value package making the newest Integra an even more attractive investment," said Rich Thomas, executive vice president -general manager of Acura. "Like all Integra models, the Special Edition delivers sporty style, performance, comfort, advanced technology and excellent customer value."
The handling and appearance upgrades of the 1995 Integra Special Edition include 15-inch alloy wheels, all season high-performance Michelin XGT-V4 tires, special front stabilizer bar, protective body-colored side mouldings, a rear spoiler on the Sports Coupe and a wood-patterned center console on the Sports Sedan. Both models are also marked by a Special Edition emblem.
The 1995 Acura Integra Special Edition is powered by a 1.8-liter, 142-hp, DOHC engine with a 5-speed manual transmission or a 4-speed automatic transmission with the Grade Logic Control System. This system is an Acura innovation that reduces the "gear hunting" effect often experienced while traveling uphill or downhill in an automatic transmission-equipped automobile.
The Special Edition has a fully independent, double-wishbone suspension, combined with front and rear stabilizer bars, power steering, 4-wheel power disc brakes and an Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS) for handling precision. The Integra ABS system reduces the possibility of wheel lockup and helps the driver retain steering control even under maximum braking effort.
In addition to a leather-trimmed interior, the Integra Special Edition features driver's and passenger's air bag (SRS), air conditioning, a four-speaker AM/FM stereo cassette, power moonroof, power windows and cruise control as standard equipment.
To achieve improved crashworthiness, quiet operation and a long service life, the Integra body structure was designed using the Cray II supercomputer, resulting in a superior unit body structure.
To provide a comprehensive safety package, the Integra uses front and rear crumple zones designed to help absorb and dissipate crash energy before it reaches the passenger compartment. The doors are equipped with side-intrusion beams to reduce the possibility of injury in the event of a side impact. In addition, the Integra uses special side-impact pads in the door, at hip and shoulder level on the Sports Sedan and at hip level on the Sports Coupe, to further absorb impact energy.
