Acura Sets Sales Record for January

Marking its third consecutive record-breaking month, Acura posted record January sales of 13,131 vehicles, surpassing the previous mark of 12,391 set in 2001 and up 25.1 percent versus last year, the division announced today.

The all-new 2004 Acura TL posted strong results of 5,036 sales, exceeding last year by 47.7 percent and narrowly missing a new January record. Since its redesign last fall, the TL has been Acura's top selling model. The MDX luxury SUV sold a record 4,165 vehicles, besting January 2003 by 5.1 percent.

"Despite an ultra-competitive luxury market, the all-new TL, TSX and the MDX have consistently exceeded our expectations," said Dick Colliver, executive vice president, sales. "The strong demand for Acura vehicles serves as a positive indication that the momentum we built during 2003 will continue in 2004."

The hot-selling TSX sports sedan, recorded 1,870 sales and continues to perform above forecast. The RSX reached sales of 1,454 vehicles for the month.
